Voice Changer
Free · No sign-up · Files never leave your device
This changes recordings and files. It does not change your live voice in calls or games, because a web page cannot send audio into other apps.
1. Record your voice or open a file
MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC or OGG, or press Record and allow the microphone.
What is a voice changer?
A voice changer is software that alters how a recorded voice sounds, usually by shifting its pitch or adding an effect. This one works on a take you record here or a file you open. It shifts pitch with SoundTouch, then applies one effect: ring modulation for the robot, a band-pass filter for the telephone, a delay for the echo, or a generated room impulse for the reverb.
What each voice does
Deeper
Lowers the pitch.
Pitch -4 semitones
Higher
Raises the pitch.
Pitch +4 semitones
Chipmunk
Raises the pitch a lot.
Pitch +9 semitones
Giant
Lowers the pitch a lot and puts it in a room.
Pitch -9 semitones · Reverb 1.4 s decay, mix 35%
Robot
Multiplies your voice by a 50 Hz tone, which adds a metallic buzz.
No pitch change · Ring modulation at 50 Hz
Telephone
Keeps only 300 to 3400 Hz, like a phone line.
No pitch change · Band-pass 300 to 3400 Hz (12 dB per octave slopes)
Echo
Repeats your voice every 250 ms, a little quieter each time.
No pitch change · Echo every 250 ms, feedback 40%, mix 60%
Reverb
Puts your voice in a room by convolving it with a generated impulse.
No pitch change · Reverb 1.4 s decay, mix 35%
How it works
Step 1
Record or open a file
Press Record and allow the microphone, or open an audio file. Your browser decodes it. Nothing is uploaded.
Step 2
Pick a voice
Choose a preset, or use Custom for a pitch change from -12 to +12 semitones plus one effect. The settings of each voice are listed on the page.
Step 3
Preview and download
Preview plays the first 30 seconds. Download processes the whole take in this tab and saves a 16-bit WAV.
Questions
Can I use it to change my voice live in a call or a game?
No. This page changes recordings and files. A web page cannot send its audio into Discord, a game, Zoom or another app, so it cannot change your voice while you talk. Record a take here, change it, and download the result.
Is my voice uploaded anywhere?
No. Recording, decoding, the effects and the WAV file all happen in this browser tab. After you record or open a file, the page loads one small piece of code, the pitch engine, from 12notez.com to your device. Your audio is not sent anywhere.
Which files work?
Any audio file your browser can play, usually MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC and OGG. If your browser cannot read a file, the page says so, and converting it to WAV or MP3 usually fixes that. The download is always a 16-bit WAV.
Why is the file longer after Echo or Reverb?
Echo and Reverb leave a tail after the last word, and the page keeps it instead of cutting it off. Echo adds up to 4 seconds. Reverb adds its 1.4 second decay. Every other voice produces a file with exactly the same length as your take.
Why does a big pitch change sound rough?
Pitch is changed by stretching and re-joining short slices of audio, so large shifts can leave small artifacts, mostly on sustained sounds. Shifts of a few semitones, like Deeper and Higher, sound the cleanest. Giant and Chipmunk shift by 9 semitones.
Privacy: what runs where
- Your voice is recorded, decoded, changed and turned into a WAV file in this browser tab. It is never uploaded.
- The pitch engine (soundtouchjs) loads from 12notez.com after you record or open a file. Nothing about your audio is stored on our servers.
- Only change audio you have the rights to. A changed copy of someone else's recording is still their work.
